
Hormel To Update Brand Logo

NEW YORK — Hormel is updating its logo for the first time in 15 years to make it easier for consumers to identify the variety of Hormel products at grocers.
The new logo, via The Semmer Group, Minneapolis, will start appearing on Hormel Natural Choice deli sandwich meats in February and is expected to be phased in on all products by 2008. The logo tweaks the Hormel red and green logo with the introduction of a red ribbon and the year of the company’s founding in 1891. BBDO/Minneapolis handles.
“Placing our founding year on the mark communicates to consumers we are a company with a longstanding history of experience in the food industry,” Jaci Brennan, manager of packaging design at Hormel, Austin, Minn., said in a statement. “It also adds a bit of warmth and personality to the brand.” (…)
