ECCA becomes “Cable Europe”
As of today, “Cable Europe” is the new name of the association which represents the interests of cable TV operators in Europe. The association was previously known as ECCA, an abbreviation for European Cable Communications Association. Together with its new name, the Association adopts a new corporate identity. The new name and corporate identity have been developed to better reflect the dynamic identity of the cable industry and to deliver its story more effectively. This was announced today at a press briefing at the IBC (International Broadcasting Conference) exhibition in Amsterdam.
Cable offers a multitude of services in a very competitive and complex market environment. Regulation relevant to this industry is increasingly set by Europe, and often has strong business implications. Hence the need for a powerful European Association that can defend the interests of the cable industry, and make its voice heard in Brussels and beyond.
“The new name and logo will help us to better deliver our story. A very specific story, as cable is unique in competing against the telecom incumbents with its own network, already delivering telephone, broadband Internet, digital television and many more services to over 64 million households in Europe.”, states Caroline Van Weede, Managing Director Cable Europe.
The new name illustrates much more clearly what the association stands for. When the Association used the acronym ECCA as its name, the raison d’être of the organisation was only clear to those who were familiar with the context in which it operated. The Association hopes that its new name “Cable Europe” will make things much clearer and as such increase its awareness in Brussels and elsewhere in Europe.
In addition to its new name the Association has developed a new ‘look and feel’ to reflect the dynamic identity of the European cable industry more effectively. The official name of the Association remains European Cable Communications Association.
