Sioux City now has a new look. City leaders unveiled the new city logo and slogan… “successful, surprising, Sioux City.”
City manager Paul Eckert says the updated look is needed because of all the new things Sioux City has accomplished over the last few years. He says new additions like the Promenade Cinema, the new art center, and The Orpheum theater have made Sioux City a destination for out-of-towners.
While councilman Dave Ferris agrees, he says even earlier additions made Sioux City what it is today. “I've said it 20 times since I've been here,” said Dave Ferris, city councilman. “Go back to the council of Marty's day, Bob Scott, Jim Wharton, when they took the heat for the dance pavilion and the Explorers Park that idea in my eyes and my mind was the beginning to of this town moving forward.”
The cost for Sioux City's new look… $21,000 which included surveys, focus groups, art and graphics, and the production of the new city materials. City leaders say the new logo will be used as a marketing campaign to get people to come to Sioux City.
