University of Hartford - Visual Identity Guidelines
Excerpt:
Introduction
You are looking at the University of Hartford’s new graphic identity, a key element of an updated visual identity system. The details of the new system are outlined in this manual.
The change is evolutionary, not revolutionary. Our team felt strongly that certain elements of the university’s identity should be retained because of their long association with our heritage and tradition, most notably our seal and the color red.
The seal has been carefully redrawn and simplified to improve legibility and reproduction clarity in all media applications. In its modern form, the seal evokes both pride in our past and our continuing commitment to the future.
The all-caps typographic treatment of the university’s name (logotype) is set in Adobe Jenson, a classic typeface that reflects strength, stability, and leadership—qualities that have distinguished this institution since its founding.
A significant change in the new program is the adoption of a strategy that establishes the University of Hartford logo as the primary design component of an identity system that embraces the entire university community, rather than creating separate and competing identities for our colleges, schools, and departments.
These communities within the university system will be identified in a clear, descriptive typographic style that links them to the strong University of Hartford visual identity.
