New Memorial logo drops 'Newfoundland'
“Newfoundland” is being dropped from the logo of the only university in Newfoundland and Labrador in a campaign aimed at attracting students from around the world.
Only the first two words of Memorial University of Newfoundland's title are used in a new logo built around a graphic featuring a rectangle with two ripped sides.
It replaces the traditional coat of arms, which was last modified for promotional purposes in the 1990s. (…)
The new logo will appear over the forthcoming months on the university's website, publications and promotional materials.
The coat of arms will continue to be used at convocation and on formal university documents, including degrees.
