Vancouver Island Regional District Gets New Look
The Regional District of Comox-Strathcona has undergone a bit of a branding 'facelift', and now has a new logo, a new positioning statement and a new way of saying its name, following a months-long project to put a new face on the oldest regional district in BC.
“The new logo is an updated, clean, fresh visual approach for us,” said Bob Long, regional district CAO. “The change in our visual identity – our “brand” – reflects the changes we've undertaken with our internal structures and practices, as well as the changes currently going on externally that involve the regional district.”
The new logo is a visual representation of the blues and greens found in the region's natural surroundings, and is also a visual play on the “C” and the “S” of the regional district's name. The positioning statement “stronger together” represents a vision of leadership and of collaboration producing the best results, both inside and outside the organization.
The organization will also switch the order of the words in its name, and will now be known as the Comox Strathcona Regional District.
“The reversal of our name is to put emphasis on place rather than on the type of governing body, and we join the majority of other regional districts in BC who do the same,” said Long. (…)
The Comox Strathcona Regional District's website address has been changed to www.comoxstrathcona.ca, and the new look will be applied to everything from the website to external signs to company vehicles to stationery.
The logo was designed by Trapeze Communications of Victoria, the successful candidate in a very stiff RFP competition the regional district held in late 2005. The new look was approved by the regional district board at its meeting on April 24, 2006.
