Dolphins Get the 'S' Out In New Stadium Name
What’s in a name? When it comes to the stadium where the Florida Marlins and the Miami Dolphins play, it’s all in a single letter. The stadium, which has been called Dolphins stadium for the past year, will now be known as Dolphin stadium. The final “S” is history.

The move was formally announced Saturday, when a new logo for the 18-year-old facility was also unveiled. Unlike most sports facilities, the naming rights for Dolphin Stadium are not held by a corporate owner. The Dolphins are free to call it what they want, and they’ve decided the stadium, and the team should not carry the same name.

“We wanted to capture the spirit of the Dolphins, the fact that they play here, and the fact that this is their home but at the same time separate and make it its own unique brand,” said Dolphins Enterprises CEO Joe Bailey. “Therefore that fits into the overall strategy, the branding strategy and the overall strategy of the stadium.”
