Slight Change to China Unicom Branding
China's CDMA and GSM network operator, China Unicom has launched a brand new corporate logo in tone of red. The company says that the new logo symbolizes that China Unicom will enter a new era of telecommunications with a brand new and more internationalized image.

In 2006, China Unicom has started to strive for a business strategy that adopts an application-oriented approach with consumers' needs as the core focus, which leads to the complete change of the Company's brand identity. The new logo uses a combination of Chinese red and Chinese ink black. The red is said to stand for passion, enthusiasm and energy which enhance the friendliness of its corporate logo; while the black, a colour mixture of steadiness and elegance, stands for tolerance and cohesion. The composition of red and black has a visual impact of stable and harmonious feel. In view of the new logo structure, the two i's in “China Unicom” connect vertically, as if two people are communicating freely at any time, thus emphasizing the branding spirit of “Connecting You Freely”.

The new logo has continued to use the design of “Chinese Knot” and Chinese and English characters of “China Unicom”, so as to maintain the consistency and continuity between the new and old ones, with an ultimate aim of standing out the corporate image of China Unicom as full of passion, innovation and trendiness.
