The final logo for the Expo includes a transparent water-drop in the shape of a Z
The president of Expoagua, Roque Gistau, the regional minister of finance and vice-president of Expoagua, Eduardo Bandrés, and the mayor of Zaragoza, Juan Alberto Belloch, this morning presented the final logo for Zaragoza Expo 2008. The emblem includes a drop of water in the shape of a Z and a small droplet beneath it. It is also accompanied by H2008. The transparent drop will change its colour depending on the background. In addition, the logo includes Zaragoza and water, with the number 2 and the second 0 yellow, and the first 0 and the 8 red, representing Spain and Aragon.
The ultimate objective is that by the time 2008 arrives and the Expo is held, the Z-shaped droplet should be identified with the event. In order to bring this about, a merchandising campaign will be launched with T-shirts, jewellery, key rings and other such things.
As for the mascot, “we’ll have to wait until the construction works start on 15 December to see what it is like,” said Roque Gistau. (…)
This logo goes back to the very origins of Expo Zaragoza 2008, with different versions subsequently appearing and ZH2O finally being chosen with a view to the selection of the city. The definitive version will be the drop of water in the shape of a Z, but beforehand – to ensure that the people of Zaragoza and possible visitors get used to it – it will initially be accompanied by Expo Zaragoza 2008, then ZH2008, then ZH20, finally ending up as just the Z.
