The Canadian Canoe Association changes its name to CanoeKayak Canada and introduces new logo
The Canadian Canoe Association announced that it has been officially renamed CanoeKayak Canada following a proposal put in motion earlier this year at the 2005 annual general meeting.
“Canada’s paddlers ranked as the best performing Canadian athletes at the Athens Olympics. Our very best achievements were in the kayak and that boat needed to be recognized in the organization’s name,” said Anne Merklinger, director general of CanoeKayak Canada. “The new name also umbrellas our three disciplines: sprint, whitewater and marathon canoe and kayaking.” (…)
A new logo (pictured at the top of release) was designed to reflect the inclusiveness of the organization. The sport of canoeing and kayaking is experiencing considerable membership growth. The new name and design reflect these dynamic changes. The red, white and blue logo show the sport’s graceful balance and explosive power combined with the key elements of water, the paddle and, of course, the red maple leaf.
The logo was designed by McGregor Creative.
