Atlanta's new brand to be revealed during month-long celebration
Today at City Hall, Mayor Shirley Franklin announced the month-long rollout of Atlanta's new branding campaign. As part of the announcement, Mayor Franklin unveiled the new city logo, Web site and a community mobilization program to engage metro area residents in the effort. The celebration of the new brand will continue during the next four weeks as additional campaign components are revealed.
This branding initiative, known as The Brand Atlanta Campaign, is a public/private initiative charged with creating a new, compelling brand identity for Atlanta. The goal of this effort is to create a fresh and consistent look and feel for marketing efforts promoting Atlanta. Brand Atlanta is also designed to rally Atlantans to communicate metro Atlanta's spirit in a shared voice and proactively position the city and its hospitality, entertainment and tourism offerings to visitors, residents and businesses.
“Brand Atlanta will represent what it means to be in Atlanta, to be from Atlanta, to be a part of Atlanta,” said Mayor Franklin, chair of The Brand Atlanta Campaign Leadership Team.
Research conducted by The Brand Atlanta Campaign supported three widely held beliefs: Atlanta is a place of boundless opportunity, inspired optimism and universal openness. These beliefs served as the foundation and inspiration for the development of The Brand Atlanta Campaign and are directly reflected in the design of the new logo now displayed at City Hall.
“As Brand Atlanta continues to roll out over the next month, you will begin to see the essence of Atlanta come to life. I am confident the new logo presented today will be a powerful symbol moving forward, embraced by all Atlantans,” continued Mayor Franklin.
The Brand Atlanta logo will be featured on pole banners going up around the city today, which will also promote the new Campaign web site, http://www.ATLopen.com. The Web site serves as a primary vehicle for the community mobilization program called Team ATL and will soon expand into a comprehensive online resource guide to Atlanta.
