Star power: Bethlehem reveals new logo
by Nicole Radzievich
Follow the Star to Bethlehem. One city, two great downtowns. Christmas City USA.
Bethlehem — which features quaint Moravian heritage, the remnants of the industrial giant Bethlehem Steel and festivals like Musikfest — has so many messages going out right now that some are worried that tourists are getting lost as to all the city has to offer.
To unify that message, Bethlehem leaders on Wednesday launched a new logo that they hope will attract more visitors, who will spend money and drive local business to expand. The logo, created by Saraceno Design, features the city's name, written in a bold font reminiscent of Steel's blast furnaces and to represent various attractions.
A candle represents the Moravian history. A gear stands for Steel. Musical notes denote Musikfest the Bach Choir and other entertainment. The star symbolizes the Christmas City, which hosts events like Christkindlmart. A sun portrays the opportunity and standard of living in the city, and a wave promotes recreation.
