Farm Family of the Year Program Unveils New Logo
A design submitted by Nathan Schultz of Mt. Pleasant High School (Izard County) has been chosen as the concept for the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program’s new logo.
Schultz, the 19-year-old son of Jack and Janette, won $150 for best overall design in a statewide logo-design contest held for Arkansas students on the elementary, junior and senior high levels. He also won $75 for winning the high school division. The Farm Family of the Year program sponsored the competition, with help from the USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service.
Arkansas Farm Bureau has assumed a greater role in coordination of the program, now in its 59th year. The organization provided prize money for contestants submitting the first-, second and third-place designs on each school level.
“Shultz’s concept clearly depicts what the Farm Family of the Year program is intended to do,” says Andy Guffey, Farm Bureau program coordinator.
“The new design captures the essence of a program which has been recognizing farm families since 1947 for their contributions through their agricultural operations, community leadership and home management.
“It does so through scenes of a barn and silo, a farm family at the dinner table and silhouette of a rural community,” Guffey says.
