Macromedia
by Research Studios
In 1995 Macromedia asked us to modernize its image to reflect its position as an innovative, cutting-edge design-software company.
The result has been hailed as one of the most successful models of modern ‘total design’.
We created a Visual Language of changeable elements, flowing from product to product and through all communication components, creating a strong, consistent and fluid whole.
A specially commissioned typeface underpins a highly expressive illustrative approach to the packaging and desktop icons. The project extended to all areas of print, web and electronic design.
In 2001 Macromedia asked us to evolve this Graphic Language further to meet the needs of their newly expanded target market, which now addressed business customers.
Our approach was to simplify the ‘signature’ graphic elements of each product line, thus creating a Visual Language that was more iconic and ‘immediate’ in nature.
