Fort Bend Senior Citizens have a new logo. On hand for the announcement were David Hunter, chairman of the board for Fort Bend Seniors; Pat Hebert, vice chairman for Fort Bend Seniors; Gail Parker, president/CEO of the Rosenberg-Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce; Karyn Dean, past chairman of Fort Bend Seniors; Manuela Arroyas, executive director for Fort Bend Seniors; Sam Davila, transportation director for Fort Bend Seniors; Cynthia Spadoni, social services coordinator for Fort Bend Seniors and Pat Jasso, site manager coordinator for Fort Bend Seniors.

The new logo and name for a senior service organization in Fort Bend County was unveiled Thursday. The organization formerly known as Fort Bend Seniors is now Fort Bend Seniors, Meals on Wheels & Much, Much More!

“Our objective with the change is to make it clear to our community what we do and how we can help,” said Fort Bend Seniors Inc. Chairman of the board David Hunter. “We wanted an identity that would grow with us as we continue to expand our services and resources.”

Organized in 1974, Fort Bend Senior Citizens, Inc. began in Rosenberg by serving 20,000 meals to 80 area seniors in that first year. Currently, Fort Bend Seniors has seven service site locations in the greater Fort Bend county area, including Rosenberg, Needville, Fresno, Kendleton, Fulshear-Simonton, Katy, Tri-City serving Stafford, Rosenberg and Missouri City and Brookshire.

The Meals on Wheels program is still the primary community service, and 110,000 meals were served to over 800 seniors in 2004. The organization also provided 40,000 rides and 4,000 homemaker hours of service to area Fort Bend seniors.

“We are confident that our new name and logo will assist with making our community more aware of who we are and what we do,” said Hunter.
