Superbrand status for Dubai International Airport
Dubai International Airport received 'Superbrand' status at the award ceremony held last evening to mark the release of the second UAE edition of the Superbrands hardback book.
Dubai International Airport was chosen from among 750 UAE-based companies to receive the Superbrands award, which recognises outstanding brand qualities identified with a particular brand name.
Commenting on this latest award, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group, said: 'Establishing the brand identity of Dubai International Airport became a key factor as it grew from a transit stop to a hub status. Over the last few years we worked on a number of international campaigns highlighting our identity. We are delighted that the brand is now known throughout the world and that Dubai International Airport is synonymous with high standards of facilities and service.'
Mrs Anita Mehra Homayoun, Director, Marketing & Corporate Communications, DCA, Dubai, commented: 'The brand identity of Dubai International Airport was launched in 2000 with the opening of the Sheikh Rashid Terminal. This new corporate identity evolved from the futuristic yet traditional character, grand yet homely atmosphere, dynamic yet physically stable form of the new Concourse or the Sheikh Rashid Terminal itself. The idea being that Dubai International Airport will be represented all over the world by its new look and logo – the Sheikh Rashid terminal, a mega hub built to cater to the ever-growing global business.'
The Superbrands Council in the UAE, an offshoot of the Superbrands organisation, was launched last year. The UAE Council consists of senior executives from top companies within the emirates. Superbrands explores the history, development and achievements of the strongest brands in the UAE.
